Sixes Are Wild If You Have a Queen of Diamonds
P. Wolf did not take last week off from Tower Ridge Poker Cronies, even if he was not at the game. He was esconsced in his home office working out the details of a delightful new game dubbed "Wild Sexy Six Lady (Not a Ho) in the Sky With Diamonds" that he has asked me to preview for you so as "not to waste precious time that could otherwise be spent separating P. Arno from his Christmas bonus."
The rules are simple. You are dealt two cards. One down. One up. If your up card is black, you get the next card up; if it's red you get it down, unless it's a six, in which case it has potential to be wild and you have to take all remaining cards up. Unless you already have a Queen of Diamonds. Then you're six is definitely wild and you must show the Queen, but you can choose whether you want subsequent cards up or down. That scenario notwithstanding, once you get a card down, you get the rest of the cards up. If you get a card up on the third round, you don't get one down until you get a red card (unless it's a six, of course, in which case the rules above kick in.) All told, six card are dealt, making it a perfect game for nine players (assuming one drops out before the final round. If not, Art folds, unless Jason is playing, in which case "up 50" and Bobaloo drops because he's already thrown in all his blues thinking they were reds). Yes, George, of course there's a low -- 6-4 if there's a Queen/6 combo in play, seen or hidden. Otherwise, it's a bike.
Just to make sure you understand the rules, P. Wolf has sent along a picture of a hand he had in the last game he played at Mike's. He asks you to identify what he had:
CORRECT ANSWER: Delusions
Mike "C." Bucuvalas, in a familiar pensive pose, will host this week.
